MCWA's Shoremont Water Treatment Plant can produce up to 140 million gallons a day.

Richardson Road Water Main Replacement

Overview

A section of water main, hydrants and valves on Richardson Road near Blazey Road is being replaced. The new main will be 8" ductile iron, installed in the right-of-way, parallel to the road.

Once the main has been installed, it is pressure tested for leaks. If any leaks are found, they are corrected. Then the main is flushed and disinfected. Health samples are taken for testing by the Department of Health. After the main has successfully passed all tests, service connections are transferred from the old main to the new main.

During final restoration, disturbed areas are restored to their preconstruction condition. Temporary asphalt is removed, and permanent asphalt is installed in paved areas. Lawn areas are graded and seeded to achive proper grass growth.

Schedule

The schedule depends on a number of factors, but we anticipate starting and completing the water main installation in mid-June.  Final lawn restoration will be completed shortly after.
